These terms apply to your use of the Vartu app. By downloading or using the app you agree to them. They sit alongside Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies; where the two differ on something Apple's agreement covers, Apple's agreement prevails.
1. The app
Vartu is a personal record-keeping tool. It stores what you enter or import on your own device and works figures out from it. It does not hold money, make payments, place trades or connect to your bank.
2. Not financial advice
Nothing in the app is financial, investment, tax, legal or pension advice. Forecasts (dividends, retirement income, regular payments, money until payday), tax estimates, property values from the House Price Index, target allocations and the trades suggested to reach them are arithmetic on your own figures and published data, and can be wrong or out of date. Companies can change or cancel dividends at any time; prices move; tax rules change. Make your own decisions, and take advice from a qualified professional where it matters.
3. Your data
Your records are stored on your device and are yours. We do not receive them. Because of that, keeping them safe is in your hands: make backups, and keep them somewhere other than the phone. We cannot recover records from a lost or erased device. How the app treats data is set out in the Privacy Policy.
4. Third-party services
Some features use services you choose to connect — price providers such as Twelve Data, Finnhub or Alpha Vantage with your own key, a logo service if you switch logos on, and HM Land Registry's House Price Index if you follow a property. Those services are provided by their owners under their own terms; their availability, accuracy and limits are outside our control.
5. Subscriptions
- Vartu Pro (£49.99 a year) and Vartu Pro Family (£69.99 a year, shared through Apple Family Sharing) are auto-renewable subscriptions sold through the App Store. Prices in other countries are shown in the App Store.
- New subscribers get the first month free where offered. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase or when the free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; the renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage and cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
- If a subscription ends, your records stay on your device and remain available to back up and export.
6. Acceptable use
Use the app for lawful purposes. Do not attempt to copy, modify, reverse-engineer or redistribute it except as the law or Apple's agreement allows.
7. The app as it is
We work to keep the app accurate and reliable, but it is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from decisions made using figures in the app, from data lost on your device, or from third-party services. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of where you live.
